About the authors
Dr Michelle Harvie and Professor Tony Howell work at the Prevent Breast Cancer Centre, part of The University Hospital of South Manchester. Prevent Breast Cancer is the only breast cancer charity in the UK entirely dedicated to prevention. Because weight is a significant contributing factor to an individual’s risk of developing breast cancer, Dr Harvie and Prof Howell have spent years researching and developing the optimum diet to help people lose weight quickly and easily as well as keep off weight lost in the longer term. This incredibly effective diet is the result of their clinical research.
Dr. Michelle Harvie
Dr Michelle Harvie is an award-winning research dietitian. For the last 17 years she has specialised in optimum diet and exercise strategies for weight loss and preventing breast cancer and its recurrence. Her findings have been published in many major scientific journals. She was awarded the British Dietetic Association Rose Simmond’s Award for best published dietetic research in 2005, Manchester City Council’s 2007 International Women’s Day Award for Women in Science, and the National Association for the Study of Obesity Best Practice Award for best published obesity research in 2010.
Prof Tony Howell
Prof Tony Howell is Professor of Medical Oncology at the University of Manchester. He has specialised in treating breast cancer for over 30 years and now focuses on pharmacological and lifestyle measures to prevent breast cancer. He is Research Director of Prevent Breast Cancer and has published over 600 scientific papers and book chapters, mainly concerning the biology of the breast and the treatment and prevention of breast cancer.
